About Rose
Meet Rose Mukonia Ananda, a vibrant and welcoming 17-year-old girl whose smile can light up any room. Despite the physical challenges she faces, Rose remains a beacon of joy and positivity in her family and community. She lives with her family in Mumbita, Luanda, and is the second oldest of five siblings.
Health Challenges
Rose was born with physical disabilities affecting her lower limbs, a condition diagnosed as cerebral palsy in 2007. Her condition requires her to use crutches for mobility, which she handles with great determination despite the difficulties. Additionally, Rose has bladder and bowel control issues, necessitating the use of diapers throughout her life.
She attends regular physiotherapy and occupational therapy sessions, which have significantly helped her maintain some level of mobility. Rose’s condition also requires constant medical management, including the use of crutches, calibers, and ongoing counseling.
Education and Aspirations
Rose is currently enrolled in Form 1 at Joyland Secondary School, a special school that accommodates her unique needs. She performs averagely in her studies and is determined to succeed academically. Rose dreams of a future where she can be independent and contribute positively to society, but she faces significant financial barriers to achieving this.
Her father, Jacob Ananda, does casual work in the village to provide for the family, but their income is insufficient to cover Rose’s educational and medical expenses. The family relies heavily on the generosity of well-wishers to support Rose’s needs.
