About Clarice
Meet Clarice Mbakaya Emuloyo, a spirited 3-year-old girl with a radiant smile that lights up any room. Despite facing significant health challenges, Clarice’s resilience and determination are truly inspiring.
Clarice lives with her loving grandparents and two siblings in Emukunji, a small village in Luanda, Vihiga. Tragically, she lost her parents at a young age, but her grandparents have taken her under their wings, providing her with care and love.
Health Challenges
Clarice was diagnosed with severe cerebral palsy and epilepsy on April 2, 2023. These conditions have presented her with numerous obstacles, including difficulties with daily activities such as sitting, touching, speaking, eating, bathing, standing, and walking. Despite these challenges, Clarice attends physiotherapy sessions weekly at the Christian Touch Community Resource Center, where she works hard to improve her mobility and independence.
In addition to physiotherapy, Clarice visits the epilepsy clinic at the same center twice a week. Her treatment includes regular doses of phenobarbitone to control seizures, which are a frequent and concerning part of her condition. These treatments are crucial for her well-being and development.
Daily Life and Aspirations
Clarice’s daily life revolves around her treatments and the constant support of her grandparents. She is making gradual progress in her ability to perform daily activities, and each small achievement is a significant milestone for her. Her journey is one of perseverance and hope.
The Christian Touch Community Resource Center (CHRITOCO) plays a vital role in Clarice’s life, providing her with the medical attention and therapy she needs. However, to continue her treatments and receive the necessary support, Clarice needs your help.
