Samwel Baraka Asiko’s Story

Name: Samwel Baraka Asiko
Age: 7 years
Gender: Male
Location: Emusire, Luanda, Vihiga, Kenya

About Baraka

Samwel Baraka Asiko, affectionately known as Baraka, which means “blessings,” is a resilient 7-year-old boy. He was born with cerebral palsy and developed epilepsy at the age of two. Baraka is the second child in a family of two, raised by his single mother, Phanis Asiko, who relies on the support of her own mother. Their family faces significant financial challenges, making it difficult to provide Baraka with the consistent care and medical attention he needs.

Health Challenges

Baraka’s cerebral palsy and epilepsy require ongoing and specialized medical care. He attends physiotherapy and epilepsy clinics on a weekly basis to manage his conditions. Due to delayed milestones, Baraka is currently learning essential Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as walking, eating by himself, toileting, dressing, and speaking.

Daily Life and Needs

Baraka’s condition necessitates regular medical attention, including physiotherapy and epilepsy treatment. His family’s financial situation is dire, with his mother and grandmother struggling to meet his medical needs. Despite these challenges, Baraka continues to make progress in his development with the help of dedicated medical professionals and his family’s support.

To support Baraka in achieving his goals and improving his quality of life, he needs financial assistance for:

  • Medical Services: Regular physiotherapy and epilepsy treatment.
  • Educational Support: Fees for attending specialized educational programs.
  • Counseling: Emotional and psychological support for both Baraka and his family.
  • Daily Living Aids: Tools and resources to help him with daily activities.

How You Can Help

Baraka’s annual needs amount to approximately 120,000 KES. Your support can make a substantial difference in his life by providing him with the necessary medical care, educational support, and resources to develop independence in his daily activities.
